Welcome to our last newsletter of 2011. The festive season seems to roll around so fast, and it’s a great time to take stock and look at the achievements of your business. If you’re anything like us here at Milburn , 2011 has probably had its ups and downs. There’s no getting away from it, business is getting harder to find, but a positive attitude and a good ‘new business’ strategy can make all the difference. We’re currently on a knowledge quest – looking for inspiration and new ways of doing things from great business mentors like James Potter aka The LinkedIn Man, Nigel Botterill, Tim Fearon at The Extraordinary Coaching Company and Brad Burton. We are reading lots and also networking to ensure our company remains on the top of people’s minds – Julie Leigh and Sandra Blakey have just set up a new networking group for ladies called The Company of Women which we find really useful as there is always a training element after the evening meal, good conversation and plenty of fun!
We’d like to thank all our valued customers for their business throughout 2011, and hope to continue to work with you all in the coming year. We wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Festive Season Closing Times
Milburn Finance will close at 12 noon on Friday 23rd December 2011 and reopen at 9am on Wednesday 4th January 2012.
Over the last two months we have been working with the team at Tender Care Services on their payroll and will be starting on their bookkeeping soon. We have been amazed at the level of service this company provide to their clients and at the way the team works together. We love having really great clients!
Angela Fraser, Director of the business says:
Lesley and her team are great for us. We are so busy and running around all the time that the service Milburn provides not only gets the job done, but actually gives us peace of mind too. It’s just one less thing for me to worry about.
We are also working closely with The Bay Radio at the moment on their bookkeeping. Alan values our service as, in his own words:
it’s nice to know that things are taken care of. I’m way too busy to worry about everything so Milburn do a great job of bridging the gaps for me.
Wendy Jackson joined us back in the summer as an Office Administrator. She has been a wonderful addition to the team – so reliable, quick and easy to work with. No job too difficult. We simply love having her around!
Samantha Dixon has passed this year’s ATT exams too – only another 18 months to go! Sam also announced her engagement to Dave Bryant in the summer with a great engagement party at the Sandbanks Hotel. The wedding is on 10th August 2012 and since it’s rather a family affair with Lesley and Sam working in the same place, Milburn will be closed on the 9th and 10th August next year for the celebrations.

The Woof Report
“Our regular readers will know that I am Lesley’s hearing dog, and I get my own column in the newsletter so I can share something I’ve learnt with you…
Well, the past couple of months have been about mentors for me. I can (now how shall I say this?) be a little naughty at times, especially when I’m on duty at a networking event with Lesley and a smoked trout canapé has just been dropped on the floor. So, I’ve been in training. But not just any old training, training with ‘the professionals’, people that understand my issues (I love trout), understand why I behave the way I do (I’m a Labrador, I’m made to eat) and then importantly, understand how to help me ‘improve’.
So, my top tip for this newsletter is, in business, it’s also very important to have someone that understands you and is able to help. This can be a professional mentor or simply just a buddy you go for lunch with once a month. To talk things through will help you focus, achieve more and give you a sounding board for ideas, issues and good news too!”
In this newsletter we’d like to promote Ace Office Environments, not just because we use them, but because their service is second to none! They are always helpful, have really competitive prices and offer free next day delivery. You just can’t go wrong with that! They have just launched a line of work wear too that can be embroidered or embossed with your logo. Anything from polo shirts to HV jackets!
